Many Filipinas won international beauty titles like Ms. Gemma Cruz won as Miss International in 1964, Ms. Gloria Diaz as Miss Universe in 1969, Ms. Aurora Pijuan as Ms. International in 1970, Ms. Margie Moran as Ms. Universe in 1973, Ms. Melanie Marqez as Ms. International in 1979 and Ms. Precious Lara Quigaman as Miss International in 2005. Not to mention those who won as runners-up and those who made it to the finals.
Filipinos have checkered heritage. We were conquered by different nations in many years resulting to smooth facial features, soft hair, thin lips, thin noses. Filipinas are not so tall compared to other women but the caramel skin tone and the angelic face with that sweet smile can draw attentions. They can run circles around most women in terms of beauty.

This makes us more proud to be a Filipina. We may not be as beautiful and as prim and proper as supermodels like Chat Almarvez and the beauty queens but we Filipinas are unique in our own way and there is always beauty that lies in us, inside or outside. Agree Bes?
