Headache at Work: Causes and Prevention

Sometimes, pounding headache is due to stress at work. As the work hour stretch and as your workload pile up, your head spins like diabolos. More often than not, this headache is responsible for the loss of a very productive day because you feel like drained  and disinterested.

Poor posture, sitting for long hours and pushing your body to the limit cause tension build up in your neck, shoulders, lower and upper back. When the tension overloads, the muscles tighten and restrict the normal flow of oxygen and blood to the muscles and back to the head thus, a pounding tension headache.

You may be surprised to find out that drinking pain relievers is not the only solution to get rid of headache at work. A simple break from all stressors is what all you need sometimes.

Watch your posture. Improper posture is the main cause of muscle tension. If you work infront of your desk all day, it is vital that ergonomic chairs be used. This prevents from having back, shoulders and neck pains.

Do some stretching. Sitting in one position for extended period of time tighten the muscles and other soft tissues. Stretching is the best way to loosen these stressed muscles and tissues.

Roll and blink. Prolong use of computer causes eye strain that can cause headache.  Roll your eyes and blink from time to time to increase the flexibility of the muscles that control your eyes (extraocular muscles) and prevent eye strain.

Get everything under control. The workload itself is stressful. You must learn to prioritize or else you’ll find your energy waning and this can cause you headache.

Tension headache is not life threatening but sometimes it can lead to other health problems.

Assure Fairness within the Workplace

Ensuring that your workplace is fair for all employees is vital for a thriving business. When each employee feels valued, they will maximize productivity, and work harder for their company. In most cases, it is easier to talk about fairness then actually implement it into your workplace, which requires changing the workings of your workplace in most cases.

Be Open

Talk to your employees about their pay, and make sure they understand why they are paid what they are paid. Also make it clear what they can do to increase their pay, or gain a promotion. This makes it fair across all employees, as they all have the opportunity to work their way up to a higher position.

Be very careful not to favorite certain employees. This will make other employees feel that they are not as valued, and will not come across as fair. Try to treat the whole team evenly, and if there is employees who are more qualified than others, consider how to even out the skills across your workforce. Business mentors often find that bosses don’t realize they are doing this, so watching videos or reading books on their findings can be helpful to identify if this is a problem in your workplace.

Allow Employees to Solve Problems

Some workplaces, especially smaller workplaces, can create an environment where workers both approach the employer with the same problem, but individually. They hope to play the employer to get the result that they wish. This practice should be greatly discouraged – ask the employees to communicate openly with each other and reach an agreement on how to best solve the problem. This reduces the appearance of favoritism, and creates a more functional workplace.

Know the Rules

Every employer will face difficult legislation at some point, whether its regarding confidentiality or the Americans with Disabilities act. Make sure you fully understand these before commenting to avoid any misguided response appearing as favoritism. Contacting a local attorney, such as Workers Comp Attorneys in Massachusetts, can be worthwhile to ensure you fully understand the acts and their implications.

Share Management

Let your employees do something important every once in a while. Send someone to a meeting in your place, or let someone else give a presentation. By sharing the management, you’ll give the impression of a fair manager, and a very open workplace.

For more ideas on how to create a fair workplace, check out the suggestions of the Human Rights Campaign. The crux of the issue is trying to make your employees feel more valued, and encouraging them to better themselves, and the company in the process.

Delicious-Smelling Perfumes to Try

There are a number of perfumes that smell outright delicious–and that resemble the smells of fresh, sumptuous food, or smell so good they make you wish there was a food with that taste that you could devour. With spring just around the corner cosmetologists get excited because now is the perfect time to try some of these great smelling perfumes, which will compliment the latest springtime makeup accessories.

Guerlain My Insolence

There is absolutely nothing unpleasant about this aroma whatsoever, which is great for those of you who love yummy smells. Truth be told, this particular fragrance has a noticeably fruity smell, somewhat like a tasty dessert or cobbler, that is subtly blended with the scent of fresh flowers such as ambrosia. The aroma is pure delight, and is sure to be noticeable, but not overpowering.

Dior Hypnotic Poison

This fragrance was conceived and designed by Annick Menardo, a fragrance designer well-known for being innovative and fearless in designing new scents. Dior Hypnotic Poison incorporates elements of vanilla in its scent, which is somewhat tempered by a balancing element that counters some of the sweetness of the fragrance. A whiff or two of this one will definitely make you think about a warm kitchen, possibly baking with goodies.

L by Lolita Lempicka

Despite the name of this perfume, it was created by Maruice Roucel who was apparently going for an outdoors, spring/summer night carnival feel when he designed this fragrance. The aroma is a cross between carmel and cotton candy, and is highly intoxicating.

Delicies de Cartier Eau Fruitee

As the name implies, this scent is definitely fruit-flavored. The subtle scent smells like fresh berries used for a cold, cool drink–either an exotic milkshake or a smoothie. Delicies de Cartier Eau Fruitee will be a great scent for any sort of springtime activity.

Estee Lauder Pleasures Delight

Estee Lauder Pleasures Delight may be the perfume that is most evocative of fresh, ripened fruit that encompasses a variety of flavors. A heady inhalation of this fragrance offers scents of bursting blueberries, cool melons, as well as tangy, tart strawberries. Annie Buzantian truly outdid herself with this one, as the entire scent is tempered by a delicate, sea breeze that helps to preserve the smell and keep it truly fresh and scintillating. According to my sources, this would be a great bridal fragrance.

Sunrise is Worth a Thousand Words

A picture of sunrise is worth a thousand words. Just like this picture (one of my favorite that was taken from Puerto Galera) that conveys different ideas.

It looks as if the sun is setting but it’s a picture of sunrise that symbolizes birth of a new day or to some people, it means fresh start or the beginning of a new life.  Sunrise also gives hope and glory to others.

For hubby and me, it is a great sight to start a perfect day. Watching it reminds us that we are on a great vacation…a vacation that every moment should be cherished.
