A Nightmare…Please Pray For Me

I was rushed to the hospital, Lung Center of the Philippines, last Monday night, May 18, around 8pm. I can’t breathe. I was like fish that got out from the aquarium, gasping for air and coughing to death. I cried when I saw my husbands reaction. He was so worried, nervous and he didn’t know what to do. I have so many bags but he got the old one and put inside two pairs of my undergarments, two blouses and some of my stuffs, just in case I’ll be admitted to the hospital. We have no nanny and house help so we left our daughter to a neighbor who is also my husband’s officemate.

Upon arriving at the hospital, the staff attended to me immediately and they were all accomodating and polite. They got my vital signs and had me x-rayed. After 15 minutes, the result came out. My lungs are clear and my vitals signs are stable. The doctor precribed medicine for cough and antibiotics and advised me to just continue my inhaler for asthma. We went home that night. I hugged my daughter tightly and kissed her. I thought I won’t be able to see her again. It was a nightmare for me. When I was unpacking the bag we’ve brought to the hospital, it was only then that we realized my husband wasn’t able to bring me any pants. He was very disoriented.

The next day, I had difficulty in breathing again. My husband suggested that we should seek for a second opinion for there might be something wrong with my throat. We went to ear, eye, nose doctor (ENT) that day. My husband was right. The doctor diagnosed me with Acid Reflux. Acid reflux is a disorder that happens when acid of the stomach flows back into the esophagus up to the throat and voicebox. You can visit Kusina Ko for some details about Acid Reflux. The doctor prescribed 6 different kinds of medicines, shown in the picture above. I have no choice but to take them. I’m feeling much better now though I’m worried for my liver and kidney for they will absorb these meds. Waah!

It’s hard to do but I will follow the doctor’s advices. I will take care of myself for my daughter, my husband, my parents and other people who love me. This was the reason why I wasn’t able to blog hop for two days. I know you will understand, guys. Now, I am asking for your prayers.

I am commending the staffs of the Lung Center Of The Philippines for the utmost attention they have given me. I would like to thank Dr. Cesar Joaquin A. Chavez and all those who showed their concerns and prayed for me. For my husband who is always with me through twists and turns of life and my daughter who is giving me the strength to go forward and the will to fight, thank you very much and I love you both! Most of all, to our Dear Saviour and Creator;

“Oh Lord, I am not questioning you for all that is happening right now.
I know you have purpose and that you are giving these to us because
you know that we can handle these. I may not be worthy of your love
but please help us surpass all of these.

Thank You for your never ending love and blessings.
Thank You for always lifting me up and for comforting me with peace.
Thank You for guiding us always and for Your unconditional love. Amen”

  4. Hello ms. Rossel, how is your asthma? Thanks for the memorial greetings and visit!

  5. Hello Ross. Sorry to hear about what had happened to you. I will pray for your recovery. Before this incident happened to you, did you drink coffee? I asked this because a week before I came to the Phil, my husband suffered from having a hard time breathing. This happened while he was on his trip, away from me. The staff of the hotel where he stayed help him to go to the nearby hospital and the doctor there did not find anything wrong in his heart. Almost a week after that incident he conducted a lot of research and got a second opinion and my husband found out that drinking too much coffeinated coffee will cause the irregularity of his heart beat because it happened to him once when he drunk a lot of coffee. please take care of yourself…..

  11. I understand how your husband felt and he was disoriented. but I know he will be more prepared now.

I hope you get well. It’s really difficult for the family when the mother gets sick.

I’ll pray for your complete healing.

  12. Rossell, that’s just awful! You must have been very scared. But Acid Reflux is fairly common. Have you had similar symptoms for a long time? It’s unusual for it to cause such a strong response all of a sudden. I had a very bad case of Acid Reflux and because I also have a lung disease, I was told I had to have an operation to get it under control. Now I don’t have it any more. So if the medications don’t work, you can always have the operation. Good luck. Hope you feel better soon.

  13. I’m glad that you’re ok now–ngayon ko lang din to nabasa.I will pray for you and I’m sure that everything will be fine.God bless!

Please do take of your self cause I care. Just follow what the doctor advised you and I know you’ll soon get better and get over it. I love you.

  16. hi rossel,

while i was reading your post, i had teary eyes.. i will include you in my prayers. you always take care. God is always good and you will be fine.

  17. Nako nakakatakot naman. Buti naman at okay ka na. We will pray for you. I’m sure you’ll be fine. Ingat lagi and follow mo talaga yung advice ng doktor mo.

  18. Ooh, I didn’t know this until now. Ngayon ko lang nabasa to, Rossel (I’ve been busy too kaya hindi din ako nakapag post and blog hop.). I hope things are okay now.

I’m very familiar with Acid Reflux kasi acidic ako. I haven’t drank softdrinks in almost 9 years kasi it really reacts sa tiyan ko. I also don’t eat spicy foods and spices like bawang, sibuyas, pepper, etc. kasi talagang umaasim ang sikmura ko. I know a friend who was rushed to the emergency room because of difficulty of breathing due to acid reflux. He’s fine now. There are a lot of websites naman who provide info on acid reflux which are helpful. I subscribed nga din to one. Hope that helps.

I’ll pray for you, Rossel. I’m sure things are going to be all right. Have a lovely day! 😀

  19. Hi rossel, naku buti nalang at nadala ka agad sa hospital. I hope everything is okay na. So sorry ngayon lang ako nakapunta dito yesterday and today I don’t feel okay parang mag-flu ata ako and I refuse to get sick talaga. You will be in my prayer dear. God bless!

  20. Hi Friend.. Interesting post.. Do keep up the good work.. Visit my blog and post your comments.. Take care mate.. Cheers!

  21. Nakakatakot naman yan Rossel buti na lang nadala ka agad sa hospital at wala masamang ngyari sayo. You’ll be in my prayers!

  22. Glad your ok. That sounds scary. My Mother and Brother in law both were diagnosed with Acid Reflux. And both thought they were having heart attacks at first, so it can be serious problem. Hope you take care!

  23. Grabe! I’m soooo glad you’re okay. I’d hug you if you’re in front of me.I almost cried after reading your story.

Sobrang hirap kapag ikaw o ang minamahal mo maysakit.I know kaya mo naman labanan yung sakit mo by taking those meds.

  24. I am glad you are feeling better now. sel. na imagine ko tuloy yung husband’s reaction that time. i remember my husband’s reaction after two consecutive surgeries that happened in one week…he though i was going to die that time.

yup, God is good and He loves us! ingat dear!

  25. i understand that your hubby forgot to put any pants in your bag, I remember when we brought my nephew to the hospital and i forgot to change my clothes i was at the hospital when i noticed that the blouse i am wearing has a little hole right below my boobs hahaha…

  26. Hello ms. Rossel, your condition is pretty scary. I hope and pray to God that He will heal you with your asthma…

  27. Napaiyak ako dito sa post mo Rossel, feeling ko ako yung may sakit and i really feel what you felt. So sorry to hear that you been hospitalized. Hope you are better now..

I will include you in my prayers, please take care of your health too…
