A Tribute To A Great Man

There was this boy who lived a simple life. He has no toys except for a big plastic car. A family friend from abroad visited them one day with his son. Their friend’s son has a remote control car. The boy was just staring at the car. He wanted to have one but he knew his parents cannot afford it. He just went to the bedroom and cried.

This boy loved to play outside with his friends. They were making sling shots and shot the fruits from their neighbor’s trees. They were happy playing patintenro & tumbang preso. They were catching wrigglers and fed their fighting fish. He was wondering why they had to catch wrigglers everyday and not just stock them in a jar instead. He got a jar and caught as many wrigglers as he can and stocked them. After 3 days he opened the jar and surprised to see mosquitoes coming out from it. He discovered why wrigglers cannot be stocked but was scolded by his mother.

This boy always got good grades in his subjects. He was one of the most obedient boys in school. In fact, when his teacher said that they should just stand straight with their right hand on the chest every time they hear the national anthem, he just did so even when it was raining so he got home wet. Good Lord, he did not get sick. He finished grade school with just one P.E. shirt that it was almost transparent when he graduated from his 6th grade.

This boy was nearly six years old when a stray bullet hit his right eyebrow down to his eye. The nerve that transmits light to his eye for him to be able to see was damaged. The doctor said that it is impossible for his right eye to see anymore even with an operation. The eye is totally blind. The boy had to live only with his left eye. His parents were so sad because he is their eldest and only son. The hell with the irresponsible gun users!

The picture on the left is his last picture with his both eyes.Try to shut one of your eyes. It is hard to see, isn’t it? But this did not make the boy miserable. He was the same jolly and playful boy. This made him stronger and served as his motivation to strive and succeed. He finished his studies and got good job. He got married October 1999 to yours truly.

Yes, this boy who is a man now is my husband…my loving husband, a caring father, a good provider, who keeps on sharing his childhood memories with me and our daughter. He is the greatest man I know. This is for you Papa. God is so good for giving us each other and for giving us a pretty daughter. I love you!!!

More Blessing Rossel and your family

Pero bilib ako sa kanya kasi nag strive sya to finish his studies and get a good job despite sa nagyari sa mata nya. May God Always bless your family!
