The Perfect Proposal

My friend is proposing to his college sweetheart. Unfortunately for him, he’s quite clueless when it comes to getting the perfect engagement ring for his intended and came to me for an advice. He wants an alternative to diamond engagement ring. And so I told him to make the occasion a more memorable one by presenting her with blue diamonds when he’s on his knees proposing to her. It would be very romantic, don’t you think?

Maid in Manhattan

My Rating : 6/10

For this week’s theme “Living the American Dream”, I could not think of any movie other than “Maid in Manhattan”. It is a modern fairytale movie, with Jennifer Lopez as Marissa Ventura-the hardworking, intelligent and determined single Mom who works as maid in a first class hotel in Manhattan. Her only dream is a better life for her and her son but she got more than that. She also captured the heart of Christopher Marshall (Ralph Fiennes), one of Manhattan’s most eligible bachelors.

The plot maybe too blandly generic but girls like me always fall for fairytales with happily-ever-after endings. It is not as good as Pretty Woman and Notting Hill but it is not bad either.

Something New – The Sorcerer’s Apprentice

My Rating: 6/10

I am not into fantasy or science fiction movies but when I watched the Sorcerer’s Apprentice last night, I must admit that I liked it. I don’t know if it is because of the romance in this film or because of Nicholas Cage, my favorite actor. Though this movie is not action packed like The Rock and Con Air, Nicholas Cage justified his Character as Master sorcerer Balthazar Blake. Before Merlin died, he asked Balthazar Blake to look for the child who is destined to kill Morgana le Fay (Alice Krige), Merlin’s greatest enemy.

Balthazar Blake recruits a seemingly everyday guy in his mission to defend New York City from his arch-nemesis, Maxim Horvath (Alfred Molina), until he found Dave Stutler (Jay Baruchel), a seemingly average guy who is a Physics genius. Balthazar and Dave work together to save the city and be with their love.

Pretty Woman

 My Rating: 8/10
Who wouldn’t love Julia Roberts? She is one of the best and the most beautiful actresses in Hollywood. She has been named one of People magazine’s “50 Most Beautiful People in the World” eleven times, tied with Halle Berry. She has starred in over 43 movies and my favorite of them all is “Pretty Woman”. This movie is known to be her biggest break.

Pretty woman is one of the wonderful romantic comedy films in 1990, co-starred with Richard Gere and directed by Garry Marshall. It grossed $463 million worldwide.

Synopsis from iMbd:

A very successful, wealthy lawyer, Edward Lewis (Richard Gere) hires a beautiful and unlikely prostitute, Vivian Ward (Julia Roberts), from Sunset Blvd to bring along to various business events. An attraction developes between the two and Edward finds it harder and harder to let the infectious, kind-hearted Vivian go. How a prostitute transforms into a princess is phenomenal. A modern Cinderella story.

Richard Gere and Julia Roberts? Perfect! They are in fact one of the most attractive pairs in cinema. They look very good together. Gere and Roberts both portrayed their characters very well. I laughed, nearly cried and touched by Pretty Woman. I will never get tired of watching this box-office hit over and over again.

Hubby’s Description of Me

I peeped at Niko’s site this morning to see what today’s theme is. It’s “describe yourself as a lover”. I don’t know how to describe myself as a lover so I text Rhonnel and asked if he can write some things about me as a lover then he emailed it to me at lunch time. Here it is…
Of course you are all familiar with the “Family Computer” game console which came out in the mid 80’s. Usually, it comes with game cartridges in 4 in 1, 20 in 1, and so on and so forth. I can say that my wife Rossel is in the 200 in 1 category as a lover. When we were starting out as a couple during our Pocketbell days, she used to bring me tokens, cards and small items (all handcrafted, mind you) to surprise me and my friends never stopped teasing me and telling me that I hit the jackpot.

Through the years, she evolved from a simple woman to a superwoman. She never complained of the household chores, taking care of our daughter RJ, managing our small business and coping with life’s low points. The saying “the best way to a man’s heart is through his stomach” is an understatement. She introduced me to foods that I don’t usually eat and damn, she really is good (pictures don’t lie).

As a lover...she’s very giving and super sweet. She never gets tired of kissing and hugging me and saying “Mahal na mahal kita, Baby!” She’s not a jealous type. She’s very understanding. She understands that a man like me needs to have nights out sometimes and she’s giving me allowance whenever I go out with my buddies. Yes, that’s how understanding she is. But I must behave or else I will see her Batanguena side…she will spin me with “Balisong” hehehe!

What I love about her the most is her patience. Imagine her taking care of our seven year old daughter and her thirty six year old husband acting like a seven year old. Yes, she sometimes get pissed but she never complains. I really am worried because she might just lock me and RJ up in the comfort room.

Lastly, she is the coolest Mom in the world. She plays with us, joins us in our “trips”, she horses around too until her asthma forces her to stop and take her inhaler hehehe.

I can never ask for more. She loved me and RJ ever since unconditionally and I just regret that I cannot give her a more comfortable life. She deserves it for all her sacrifices. I love you baby!

Awww, this is so sweet though there are lines describing how I am when I am pissed off, lol! I love you too, Baby! Thanks for appreciating all the things I do for you and RJ. I will never get tired of taking care of both of you.

How about you? How are you as a lover? Share it with us at Niko’s…
