My friend is proposing to his college sweetheart. Unfortunately for him, he’s quite clueless when it comes to getting the perfect engagement ring for his intended and came to me for an advice. He wants an alternative to diamond engagement ring. And so I told him to make the occasion a more memorable one by presenting her with blue diamonds when he’s on his knees proposing to her. It would be very romantic, don’t you think?

For this week’s theme “Living the American Dream”, I could not think of any movie other than “Maid in Manhattan”. It is a modern fairytale movie, with Jennifer Lopez as Marissa Ventura-the hardworking, intelligent and determined single Mom who works as maid in a first class hotel in Manhattan. Her only dream is a better life for her and her son but she got more than that. She also captured the heart of Christopher Marshall (Ralph Fiennes), one of Manhattan’s most eligible bachelors.

Balthazar Blake recruits a seemingly everyday guy in his mission to defend New York City from his arch-nemesis, Maxim Horvath (Alfred Molina), until he found Dave Stutler (Jay Baruchel), a seemingly average guy who is a Physics genius. Balthazar and Dave work together to save the city and be with their love.

Pretty woman is one of the wonderful romantic comedy films in 1990, co-starred with Richard Gere and directed by Garry Marshall. It grossed $463 million worldwide.
Synopsis from iMbd:
Richard Gere and Julia Roberts? Perfect! They are in fact one of the most attractive pairs in cinema. They look very good together. Gere and Roberts both portrayed their characters very well. I laughed, nearly cried and touched by Pretty Woman. I will never get tired of watching this box-office hit over and over again.
