Life’s Punctuation Marks

If you will be asked to put punctuation marks in this sentence, “Woman without her man is nothing”, how would you punctuate it? Most men would write it this way for sure,

“Woman, without her man, is nothing.”

But because I am a woman, I would punctuate it like this,

“Woman! Without her, man is nothing.”

Biased, huh?! 🙂

Punctuation marks give meaning and emphasis to a sentence. This is also true with life…we create our own punctuation marks and highlight our lives.

Period (.). In life, period is a common idiom to mean “end of the story” or “we are done here”. This is the punctuation we use when we are tired of someone or something and want to put an end to it. We use period when we want to cut everything off.

Comma (,). When we want to have a break from our daily regimen, work load, problems, stress, etc., we  pause for a while. Pausing once in a while would help you rejuvenate and revitalize. We could get away without these commas but we need them sometimes.

Question mark (?). We use it in making decisions…when discerning the right from wrong. “Where would I go from here? Which is better, this or that?  Am I doing the right thing?

Exclamation point (!). This mark the special events that give our lives that power stroke…touch someone’s life with a kind word, surprise your loved ones, learn an instrument or two, give someone the gift of hug, or anything you do to put enthusiasm to life and make it extra ordinary.

We may not often notice it but punctuation marks of life help us move through big transition.  Often times we use question marks and there are times we use periods but it is great to live life with exclamation point every day. Don’t you think so?
