Reef Stonefish

This is one of the species we saw at Manila Ocean Park’s aquariums.
Reef Stonefish

Is it a stone or is it a fish? It is a reef stonefish or scientifically known as Synanceia verrucosa. It grows to a size of 40 centimeters in length and is well camouflaged in the water, brownish and mottled color, and often resembles a rock. Stonefish is the most venomous fish in the world. Its venom can kill a human in two hours. You must be very careful not to step on it when you are in the ocean.

Yes, it's a very ugly fish and very poisonous at that. I never want to encounter this kind of fish. Thanks for the post. God bless you all always.
