Old and New Friends to Keep

Oh I miss Girls Talk! Sorry Kaye. I got very, very busy with things both online and offline after our grand EB. I don’t want to make promises that I’ll join every week from now on because I’m afraid I can’t keep them. Yes, time flies so fast. It was just like yesterday when I met you for the first time and I can say that you are prettier in person. 🙂 It was nice to finally meet you after changing comments in FB and so are other Mommies of PMC. I am grateful that I have met some of the PMC moms…some are my old online friends and some are new friends to keep (you included) and I hope that some will remain as true friends.

It is hard to see true friends. But still there are those who stick with you through thick and thin. They maybe miles away or you never talk to them or see them but you know they are there for you no matter what. Again, meet my best friends Mylene (in pink) and Hazel (in stripes).

We only see each other once a year or sometimes not but we always share and treasure our friendship.

This year I got reconnected with Hazel on her son’s birthday. Mylene didn’t make it but we understand…no hard feelings. That’s what true friends are.

It’s the Thought That Counts

This week’s theme made me think if the best gifts I received are from hubby. The answer is yes if I will base it on monetary value. But it’s not surprising because he is my husband. I mean, partners always give each other special gifts on special occasions. So what I did is I erased hubby from the list and disregard the monetary value of each gift. It’s the thought that counts after all.

The best gift I received is from my bestfriend Hazel. Though I would say her gifts must have cost her much, it’s the thought and effort that I appreciate the most. She and her family are now based in Abu Dhabi and being miles away from me didn’t stop her from letting me know that I am remembered on my special day.

We only get the chance to meet once a year but as always, she has this way of making me feel that I am a special friend.

6 G’s Summer Fun

6 G’s is what hubby and his five high school friends call their group. Wondering what G stands for? As per hubby, G is for any Tagalog word that you can think of that starts with letter G. It can be gwapo, ginoo, gago, etc. However, one of them is missing in action for 10 years now (but that’s another story). Still, the remaining five of them kept on meeting and continued with their regular activities which are boys’ night out once or twice a year, swimming every summer and reunion every Christmas until they became godfather of one another’s kids. The meet ups became 6 G’s tradition together with their wives and kids. Just last May 14 we had our summer fun get-together in Bosay Resort in Antipolo, Rizal.

Family’s Favorite Summer Activity

Summer means a very long vacation from school. This also means plenty of time for the family to bond. Of course there are lots of summer activity to do but swimming is on top of our list. During this season when the temperature usually soar, we love being in water. It is the best way to cool down and bond with the whole clan while going out under the sun. We do not have pool or big backyard for the inflatable ones so we go to a resort or beach. Quite pricey summer activity for a big family like ours but it is all worth it.

There are also other exciting and fun activities while on the beach other than dipping in the water. We also play beach volleyball, rugby, etc.

We had lots and lots of fun this summer. Now that that the summer will be nearly over, I feel little sad because kids will go back to school, everyone will be busy again with their jobs, and I will be back to my daily routine. We have to wait for another year round before the whole clan can go swimming again. I will surely miss everyone.

Memorable Firsts

Summer means fun, fun, fun! There are endless lists of activities that keep us moving all summer long but swimming is on top of our list. Each summer seems different and memorable from all others but still there are the most memorable ones. Just like the two unforgettable summers we had. So what make these two summers more memorable than the other?

Who would forget our first out of town vacation as sweethearts? It was on summer 1998 at La Union. I am still reminiscing that first vacation we had more than a decade now. We were like Romeo and Juliet then.

And of course, the first summer we had with RJ. Because it was her first time on a pool, she was so amazed. Maybe she was wondering why it is a hundred times bigger than her bathtub. She was enjoying the water so much that neither of us could get her attention. We were making her laugh, offered her milk, etc. but still she was ignoring us.

Guess what? These succeeding 3 weekends, we’ll be off again to plunge.
