Twists on Family Favorites

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Hormel Foods. All opinions are 100% mine.

Hormel products have been part of my happy childhood. My siblings and I love this brand. I remember every time my father who was working abroad send us package, Hormel goods are the first things we were looking for especially the luncheon meat and the Hormel Chili. My mom used to serve the Hormel chili with nachos and/or bread sticks. Oh, those were the days.
Now that I have family of my own, hormel is my partner in discovering fun and creative ways in preparing meals that my family would enjoy. I think it is more fun to cook now than before because they made twists on old family favorites with the new premium Hormel® Chili Master and Dinty Moore® HeartyMeals, healthier and there more flavors to choose from. Just heat and you are on the go. In fact, I discovered a recipe that my husband and daughter love very much. I called it Shawarma con Hormel. Below is the recipe.

Pita bread (heated in a pan)
1 can spam (heated in microwave and sliced in strips)
tomatoes (sliced thinly)
white onions (sliced thinly)
cheddar cheese (sliced in strips)
1 cucumbers– peeled, seeded and diced
4oz plain yogurt
4oz Hormel® Chili Master™ (white chicken)
dash of salt and pepper to taste

In a food processor or blender, combine yogurt, cucumber, Hormel® Chili Master™ (white chicken), salt and pepper. Process until well-blended. Transfer to a separate dish, cover and refrigerate for at least one hour for best flavor.
Preparing the Shawarma
Spread lettuce on top of pita bread. Place strips of spam that covers only ¼ of the bread. Add strips of cheddar cheese, slices of tomatoes, onions and pour sauce. Roll like a soft taco or burrito and you have Shawarma!
