The Belmonte Underpasses

If you have been to Quezon Memorial Circle or Elliptical Road then most probably you’ve passed the Belmonte Underpasses that are named after the former Quezon City Mayor Sonny Belmonte. They connect major government offices to Quezon Memorial Circle on Elliptical Road and the City Hall.

Unlike most underpasses that are full of vendors, pungent, dark and scary, the Belmonte underpasses are well-guarded 24/7, well-lit and clean. Both feature granite flooring and cove-type ceilings. It is also a great idea to post the historical transformation of the city through old photo exhibits and descriptions posted on the bulletin boards. It is like visiting a mini-museum while making your way to Quezon Memorial Circle. How I wish all underpasses in the country are as hygienic as the Belmonte underpasses to ensure the safety and protection of the pedestrians.

wow, squeaky clean! I hope it stays this way—we can actually make stuff work, we just need, by we means all Filipinos, discipline. 🙂

Wow, I cannot imagine this underpass being under the Elliptical Road. And it looked so much better than the underpass in Makati. Those are not even working 24/7. I wish all the underpass here are like this. If the government could give safe and decent walkways to the public, baka mabawasan pa ang jaywalkers.
