Weird eeh?! To think that it is a musical that was filmed on 1965. So why The Sound of Music and not a movie that was just shown recently?
My daughter RJ got a DVD of The Sound of Music from the file of DVDs left by her Ninang Ache who migrated to Germany. She played it and because she is a natural music lover, she liked it. She played it over and over while dancing and singing with Fraulein Maria and the Family Von Trapp. Maria is a novice who left an Austrian convent and became a governess to the 7 mischievous children of a Naval officer widower Capt. Georg Von Trapp. Maria fell in-love with Capt. Von Trapp who was about to marry a Baroness. But the captain found himself falling in-love with Maria as well. To make the long story short, they got married and lived happily ever after.
I have seen this musical years ago and did not like it. How come my daughter, an 8 year old girl, liked it sooo much? I got intrigued so I sat and watched with her the other day. It was only then that I appreciate it. You can feel the romance…the music and cinematography are top notch. Watching my daughter dancing and seeing her with such happiness while singing made me appreciate more the Sound of Music. It is sure is one of the best films of all time…a film that is perfect for our TCP theme today, familial love.

not weird at all.. because all of my children love this movie as well. we have it in our collection and we watch it during the weekends or the holidays. they love Julie Andrews (Fraulein Maria) so much and were surprised to find out that she’s an old woman now (The Princess Diaries) but it doesn’t change anything, lol!
I can hear the Von Trapp family singing! LOL! This is one musical and family themed movie that I should watch with my kids.
