The Twilight Saga: New Moon

My Rating: 6/10

Excerpts from the movie summary of Wikipedia:

The Twilight Saga: New Moon is a sequel to Twilight. The movie is about Bella Swan (Kirtsten Stewart) who fell in love with a Vampire, Edward Cullen, (Robert Pattinson) who stopped aging physically at 17. Bella gets a paper cut when the Cullens (Edwards’s family) throw a party for her 18th birthday. This causes Edwards adopted brother Jasper (Jackson Rathbone), to become overwhelmed by her blood scent and attempt to kill her. The Cullens realize that Bella’s life is in danger because of them so Edward brakes up with Bella and his family leaves Forks for good. This breaks Bella’s heart and she is so depressed. Bella finds a cheerful companion over Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner), her childhood friend. She discovers that Jacob is a werewolf, long time enemy of vampires. The werewolves haunt Victoria (Rachelle Lefevre), a vampire who wants to kill Bella because of the death of her mate.

Because of miscommunication, Edward thought Bella committed suicide. He flees to Italy and seeks help from the Volturi, powerful vampires who are capable of killing Edward. Alice (Ashley Greene) asks for Bella’s help to save Edward. Because the Volturi know Bella is a human who knows that vampire exist, they want Bella to be killed or be transformed into a vampire. The Cullens vote in favor for Bella being transformed into a vampire to Edward and Jacob’s dismay. Edward gives Bella a choice: either she lets Alice change her after their graduation, or, if Bella agrees to marry him, he will change her himself. However, Jacob reminds Edward of the treaty the Cullens made with the Quileutes: they will not attack each other, as long as the Cullens never bite a human.

Yes, that’s how good this novel is. It hooks everyone reading it, be an adult or young adult, and it is addicting. You will want more after reading this novel. That is why may be I have very high expectations on its movie adaptation, The Twilight Saga: New Moon.

I have seen Twilight, the first movie of the Twilight series, and I liked it very much. I watched it twice and still want to watch it one day. It made me “kilig” (chilled) to my bones. So when I saw New Moon’s trailer, I told myself that I won’t miss this movie. Plus the fact that the movie has huge promotion and many positive reviews that made me wanting more to watch it. But to my dismay, it is far from what I have expected. It didn’t give me any chill and yes I was very much disappointed. The movie is not as good as the novel. You cannot feel the thrill, romance and chill that you get while reading the novel when you watch this movie.

  1. Haven't seen the New Moon but done watching Twilight. Sabi nang mga friends ko ang new moon daw ay more on action compare to twilight na parang romantic ang dating. I am not over gaga about the two movies actually, eh mga bampira kasi hahaha. I don't want to put in my mind that vampires are nice and to be fantasize for me bampira pa rin sila hehehehe.

  2. Two of you have chosen this film this week. That's a big downer for something so hyped, and I believe you two over the others who praised this movie to high heavens.
I don't agree with the thinking that books made into movies pale in comparison. "Lord of the Rings," "The Devil Wears Prada, "Julie & Julia," made the transition very well. "Lord of the Rings" was phenomenal on film, even though it was shortened.
    Thanks for your honest review.
This week, my entry is here.

  3. hahaha! felt the same way.. i like jake, though, hehe..

  4. Ay naku, pareho tayo ng reaction. di talaga ako kinilig, sa Twilight, kilig to the bones ako, and I will watch it over and over again. Tong New Moon, ni hindi ko inulit, there's nothing to be kilig about. Di ko siya type. Baka sakaling itong Eclipse eh may dating..Hihihihi..

  5. it seems to me quite a number of people are disappointed with this film… im not a fan of the twilight saga myself…

  6. haven't watch this in full. my kids are twilight lovers and even read the book.. have heard about the review of the movie, husband told me once, that he was disappointed with this one too.

  7. hello mommy rossel. maybe that's why you were disappointed with the movie. limited na kase pag ginawa nang movie ang book. there's runtime to consider kase. and because you cannot fit everything, you have to let go of some of the scenes. kaya nga di ko pa binabasa ang twilight books e para di ako madisappoint. i still haven't seen this one though. =( will let you know what i think once i see it. hehe!
