Where Did the Trees Go

I heard RJ recite this poem. It is the same poem taught to us when we were in the 4th grade.

TREES
~Joyce Kilmer~

I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree
A tree whose hungry mouth is pressed
Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day
And lifts her leafy arms to pray,
A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair
Upon whose blossom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems were made by fools like me
But only God can make a tree.

Where did the trees go? I wonder where they are now. The only trees we have in the neighborhood are Malunggay trees (Moringa Oleifera). It is sad that RJ seldom sees big trees and whenever we want her to see big trees just like the one above we have to go to Quezon City Memorial circle.

Bes,

You know what, I was just asking Mafet (BereƱa) last week to give me a copy of this poem as i forgot some of the lines. I wanted to teach this poem to my kids, as I really love this poem. Thanks for posting this.
