Not Stupidity but Love

Parents know what is best for their children…but not all the time. Because our parents raised us, they thought they have the freedom to choose everything that is best for us including our “would be” partners for life.

Rhonnel and I were already sweethearts when I introduced him to my father, Tatay was casual with him. That was Tatay…very strict during the time my sister and I were both single. He was not smiling to our suitors nor showed them likeness. He was just scrutinizing them from head to foot and observing them while they were talking as if they were newly discovered species. Lol!  Why do fathers think that no men are good enough for their girls?

When Rhonnel left for home, Tatay talked to me heart to heart. He said Rhonnel seems a good man but he does not like him because of his disability. I know some of you already knew what happened to Rhonnel’s eyes but for the sake of those who don’t, Rhonnel’s right eye got blind due to a freak accident caused by a very irresponsible gun owner.

I ardently disagreed with Tatay. I told him that he cannot judge a person through his looks. I said that I will prove to him that he is wrong.

Love is when you realize that he’s as sexy as Woody Allen,
as smart as Jimmy Connors,
as funny as Ralph Nader,
as athletic as Henry Kissinger
and nothing like Robert Redford
– but you’ll take him anyway.
~Judith Viorst,Redbook, 1975~

It was Rhonnel who exerted much effort to be liked by Tatay…until Tatay accepted him wholeheartedly. Now, they get along very well. Tatay and Nanay are excited every time we go to their house. They even prepare Rhonnel’s favorite foods.

Marrying a half-blind man is not stupidity. It is what you call LOVE! Love does not only weaken our knees, causes our eyes to spark and our cheeks to glow. Love do wonders too and touches the heart of the over protective dad.

All people deserve good life time and loans or just short term loan would make it better. Just because people’s freedom bases on money.
